Professional Applications, Inc. took on this 1927 stucco West Hills
remodel for a young couple with a growing family. They could foresee a lack of
elbowroom, and the early-century architecture of their home just didn't
make for large bathrooms. The goal was to create more space without
altering the home's character. We replaced the pedestal sink with a
two-step vanity, moved some venting and removed that old steam radiator.
As is sometimes the case in period remodels, the amount of floor space
remained unchanged, but we were able to achieve the original goal of
significantly increasing the amount of storage space.

However, the project grew into a second story bedroom expansion to create a
"new" master bedroom as well. This succeeded in integrating both function
and aesthetic, and adding modern conveniences such as space-saving sconce
reading lights. The best thing about the finished job is that the tradition and
original character of the home remains unchanged, while adding storage
space and modern convenience for a growing family.
